It's 'Eiddddd.
And here are some quick reminders before you go.
Before anything else,
TaqabbalaLlahu minna wa minkum.
How was the Ramadan recharge?🥺
After what's definitely my best Ramadan yet(alhamduliLlah 🥺), it is time to feast.
I've had an entire month of eagerly waiting and trying my best to put in the work so I could use that line and I couldn't be more grateful that I am honestly able to finally use it.
This is my third letter to you since my last letter. The first one, I wrote it all in my head and never got around to typing it up. The second, I did write it down, went halfway – only to clear it all up again. And now, here we are.
So, again, 'Eid Mubarak. And on the subject of 'Eid;
How do you like the idea of eating, drinking and being merry on Eid while receiving the reward of a fasting person still? Sounds like the perfect Eid, right?
The Rasul (SAW) said, “The one who eats and is grateful is like the one who fasts and is patient.”
So as we wine, dine and merry today, let's all remember to be grateful to Allah and to show our gratitude by praising Him and celebrating only with all that is halal. That way, we get the reward of fasting even as we feast.
Here are a few other Sunnahs of ‘Eid that you should try to practice, while feasting and having fun today.
1. Until you perform the 'Eid prayer, it is recommended that you recite the Takbeer. Out loud, for the men and quietly for the women. Uphold this Sunnah as you prepare for and move towards the 'Eid grounds, until the Imam comes to lead the Salah.
2. It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not set out on the day of Eid until he had eaten an odd number of dates. Keyword here is “an odd number of dates”.
Wearing one's best clothes, for men. The women are expected to go to 'Eid in their most decent clothes.
Just like with Jum'ah, it is recommended to observe ghusl before going for the 'Eid prayer. And our 'Eid is even on a Friday, so ghusl away!
The Eid prayer and Jum'ah prayer are to be observed separately.
Those who attend the ‘Eid prayer with the imam may attend Jumu’ah if they wish, or they may pray Zuhr.
It is prescribed for the one who goes out to the Eid prayer to go by one route and return by another, following the example of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This Sunnah does not apply to other prayers, Jumu’ah or anything else, it only applies to Eid.
And more than anything else, if you're yet to pay your zakat-al-fitr, endeavour to pay it before the Eid prayeras the Prophet(PBUH) is reported to have said:
“Whoever pays it before the Eid prayer, it is accepted as Zakat. Whoever pays it after the Eid prayer, it is part of voluntary charity.”
May Allah accept our worship and grant us all a beautiful and blessed 'Eid.
'Eid Mubarak. TaqabbalaLlahu minna wa minkum.
Until laters,
As-salaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh.
Rali.
